i never thought i would be one to discourage the use of facebook, but here i am. as far as i can tell it suffices only to encourage shallow, invasive relationships and promotes the idea that the mere sharing of information via web constitutes actual human contact.
WRONG.
the only way you get to know someone is through sharing extensive face-to-face time with them. DO IT.
